Me? Invited to a Fashion Event at Bryant Park? Good Grief!

Monday, August 27th, 2007

pigpen.jpgOh, it’s a Snoopy fashion event? Whith couture looks inspired by Peanuts characters? Fantastic.

We hope you will join us for the MetLife Presents Snoopy in Fashion Show on Friday, September 7 at 6 p.m. at The Tent in Bryant Park.

This unique event will feature couture looks inspired by Peanuts characters from fashion’s favorite designers including, Heatherette, Isaac Mizrahi, Betsey Johnson, Liz Claiborne, Jeremy Scott, Laura Bennett, and many more. Broadway and film star Kristen Chenoweth will design a surprise outfit inspired by her Peanuts alter ego Sally, her Tony award-winning role in “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”

In the month following the show, outfits will be auctioned off on eBay to benefit Dress for Success.

Love the whole benefit thing. The Peanuts theme is … a little weird. But IMDB tells me that Kristin Chenoweth (the flacks spelled her name wrong in the press release!) was born the same year as me and since we have the same name and all, I fully support her Peanuts fashion efforts. Can’t wait to see the Pigpen outfit!

Loeffler Randall Platform Update

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

So, they are really cute, but I have to warn you, they hurt a little. The leather is a bit stiff, and I twisted my ankle (just minorly) a couple times. Don’t get me wrong. I’m willing to suffer a little. I just wanted to let you know.

Cowboys Don’t Wear Boot Cut

Sunday, July 15th, 2007

24style1.jpgIn the New York Times Magazine last week, Marc Jacobs wrote a story about rodeo fashion. The dominant jean, he wrote, is the Wrangler cowboy cut, which has a straight-leg, high pockets in the back so they don’t sit on their wallets, smooth rivets that won’t scratch a saddle, and front belt loops placed wide apart to make room for a championship buckle. The cowboy cut was introduced in 1947 and makes up 25 percent of Wrangler’s sales. Cowboys like straight-leg jeans that are four to six inches longer than typical Wranglers so they will fall “just so” outside the boot while on a horse. There were also some photos of cowboys with the jeans tucked in but very bunched up just below the knee. Skinny jeans aren’t really on their radar.

Miss Rodeo America 2007, Jacobs wrote, wore a custom full-length lime green lambskin dress to the annual wives luncheon, completing the outfit with Justin boots dyed to match and “big hair that she knows is big.” “The trendy skinny jean doesn’t go with Miss Rodeo America or riding horses,” she siad.

Love it. I wish I could have been there to see Marc Jacobs interviewing those gals. Now I’m going to try to catch up on this week’s Sunday Times.
